PRESS RELEASE: NIGERIA DIASPORA SECURITY FORUM CONDEMN DIKWA IDP CAMP SUICIDE BOMBING

Nigeria Diaspora Security  Forum (NDSF) join other Nigerian diaspora communities around the world to condemn the bombing that occurred at the IDP camp located in the town of Dikwa, some 80km northeast of Maiduguri.

Our deepest sympathy to the people of Borno State and the Federal Government of Nigeria over the senseless and barbaric act against defenceless Nigerians who have lost everything in the past and again killed for committing no crime.

It is unbelievable that an IDP camp which is home to 50,000 people driven from their homes by the Jihadist Sect, Boko Haram, would be attacked with large casualties.

Nigeria Diaspora Security Forum  (NDSF) is calling on the Federal Government of Nigeria and NEMA to adopt the United Nation standard guidance on IDP Camp Security Management.

Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) are entitled to three fundamental rigjts namely right to life, liberty and security; we must state for the record that the government of Nigeria is legally responsible for guaranteeing these rights.

NDSF is calling on the Federal Government of Nigeria to set up a Presidential Committee to assess IDP Camp Security and recommend solutions to guarantee safety.

NDSF is calling on NEMA to immediately setup an IDP "Neighbourhood  Security Watch" across the different camps to boost security consciousness and safety.

In furtherance to supporting the Federal Government of Nigeria in their quest to address the challenges of IDPs; Nigeria Diaspora Security Forum  (NDSF) as instructed our First Vice Chair, Reverend (Dr) Nathaniel Oyinloye, to commence work with reputable Nigeria Diaspora Community Leaders in the United Kingdom to establish the first ever community collective "Nigeria Diaspora IDP Fundraising Project" to alleviate the suffering of our fellow Nigerians in IDP Camps...

More information would be released about the project patron and organisations involved in this laudable one lifetime event to be our "fellow Nigerians keeper".

IDP Camps are perfect breeding locations for upcoming terrorist and Nigeria government need to work with strategic stakeholders to tackle the drivers of terrorism and reduce the perception that Nigeria is gradually becoming an exporter of terrorism...
