Gunmen Kidnap Assistant Police Commissioner, Others In Kaduna

An Assistant Commissioner of Police identified as ACP Emmanuel has been reportedly kidnapped by gunmen along the Birnin-Gwari-Funtua Road, Kaduna State.
The assistant police commissioner, who is serving in Gusau, Zamfara State capital, was said to have been abducted on Wednesday in Kaduna State.

A close relation of the ACP, who confirmed the incident to Channels Television, said Emmanuel and three members of his family were travelling in a Hilux van when they ran into the gunmen who intercepted their vehicle and whisked them away in another vehicle.

However, the Kaduna State Police Command is yet to confirm the incident.

Another police officer was said to have been abducted with three others while travelling in a bus to Birnin Gwari on the same day.

A source said immediately the police patrolling the route got the information that some persons travelling in a bus had been abducted, they raised an alarm as one of them had during a stopover at a police post, identified himself as their colleague.

According to the source, the said impostor inquired about the abducted police personnel who he said was his friend but was told had been transferred to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

Elsewhere, a source in Birnin-Gwari village said a popular businessman from the village, one Danhaza, was also kidnapped with his driver three days earlier while travelling to Kaduna from Birnin Gwari.

The source said both men were travelling in a Golf car along Birnin-Gwair-Kaduna Road when they were intercepted by the gunmen who led them into the bush.

When contacted, the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer said he was not aware of the incidents.
