US Removes Cuba From State Sponsors of Terorism List

The United States has removed Cuba from its list of state sponsors of terrorism. The move eliminates a major obstacle toward restoring diplomatic ties. The change allows Cuba to conduct banking in the United States, among other activities.

Who's On The List Of State Sponsors Of Terrorism, And Why

The White House announced Tuesday that President Obama would remove Cuba from the U.S. list of state sponsors of terrorism. That got us thinking about which other nations are on the list, how they got there, whether any others have been removed, and what happens to countries when they're put on (or taken off) the list.

Amid a historic thaw with Cuba and an unprecedented cyberattack blamed on the North Korean government, the White House this week said it was considering the first reshuffle of the U.S. ‘state sponsors of terrorism’ list since former President George W. Bush removed North Korea in 2008.
